New Model A77 Series SCR Charger

La Marche has redesigned the A75D/DE SCR Battery Charger series into an upgraded, more advanced and features rich line. The A77 series is the newest model of La Marche Battery Chargers for DC stationary applications. The A77 series is a digital microprocessor controlled Charger; it outperforms any Battery Charger in the market with its advanced features. The A77 series features a new user-friendly interface through an LCD display and pushbutton switches. The charger is equipped with self-diagnostic capabilities from detecting SCR device failures to over-temperature protection. This series is equipped with Data-Logging capability on an internal Micro-SD Card; it logs and stores data of Event-Driven and Time-Interval-Driven activities. The Micro-SD card also improves installation time efficiency as it allows the user to copy the system's settings from one charger to another rather than calibrating one charger at a time.

12 Pulse SCR Charger

One of the significant transitions in the A77 series is anticipated for the second quarter of 2015. The introduction of a 12-Pulse rectifier design will immensely reduce Total Harmonic Distortion (THDi). Over the years, the increased losses in utility power systems, low input power factor and efficiency has been a concern. The existing designs have addressed the problem but not adequately to its best. La Marche is committed to continuously improve products through research and development.

ESCR 4 Amp Battery Charger

La Marche continues to expand its product line scope in order to meet the customers' needs. The ESCR (Engine Start Battery Charger) series offering has been expanded to cover lower power applications. La Marche now offers a 4 Amp at 12V and 24V output ranges for smaller Genset installations. The new model of the ESCR is still equipped with some of the same features offered by the ESCR Charger series. This new model is compact, with an LCD display and alarm status LED indicators, Input and Output Protection, and is convection cooled.

As always, La Marche adapts products offerings to maintain the user's satisfactory experience.

Middle East Electricity Show 2015

During the first week of March, La Marche made a presence in the Middle East Electricity Show held in Dubai for the second year in a row. La Marche was accompanied in the world's largest power exhibition by 25 other U.S companies and a global audience from over 126 countries worldwide. The event draws more than 50,000 visitors and is dedicated to showcasing and emphasizing electrical products and technologies. It has been an incredible chance for La Marche to increase company exposure as well as develop new fruitful relationships. The Middle East Electricity Show offered the opportunity to meet potential customers as well as suppliers. It was a virtuous experience that will benefit La Marches future and we are already looking forward to next year!

La Marche Enclosures

The La Marche Battery/Charger console enclosures are now back by popular demand. Our new enclosures, called the LBCE, are available in either NEMA 1, 3R, 4 or 12 ratings and feature separate baffled compartments for the batteries and the charger. The battery compartment features either trays or stepped shelf mounting. Options include cooling fans with filters, air conditioner, window kits and heaters. All enclosures can be custom engineered to meet your specifications.

La Marche can also supply custom NEMA 3R, 4 and 12 enclosures for use with most any of our battery chargers in those applications where only a battery charger is needed. In these situations we will offer a suitably rated enclosure in which a completely assembled La Marche charger will be mounted inside. Other La Marche equipment such as Battery Informers, distribution panels and inverters can be mounted inside along with the battery chargers.
If you may not be familiar with the NEMA enclosure definitions, below you will find a brief description of the types we are offering. For a more detailed description please see NEMA Standards Publication 250-2003, "Enclosures for Electrical Equipment (1000 Volts Maximum)".

NEMA 1 is your basic general purpose indoor enclosure designed to protect people from incidental contact with the components inside as well as a degree of protection against solid objects.

NEMA 3R* is your basic outdoor enclosure designed to protect the enclosed equipment against rain. It provides protection against falling dirt, rain, sleet and snow.

NEMA 4* enclosures are watertight and dust tight. It provides protection against falling dirt, windblown dust, rain, sleet, snow, splashing water and hose directed water.

NEMA 12* enclosures are dust tight and drip tight intended for indoor use. They provide protection against falling dirt, circulating dust, lint, fibers, and dripping water.

*NEMA 3R, 4 and 12 also provide protection for people against incidental contact with internal components.

The new enclosures will nicely compliment our existing product offerings and we welcome the opportunity to work with you on any NEMA enclosure requirements you may have. La Marche is proud to announce the new Adjustable Ground Detection option for the A77D/DE, TPSD and A12B models. Option 19U is developed to provide customers with more information about the state of the DC ground currents and also to allow more control over the ground fault alarms. When a charger is equipped with Option 19U, the “Ground Fault Alarm” selection is added to the menu and allows for adjustment of the ground current alarm threshold. The alarm range is adjustable from 1.0 to 4.0mA and the default setting is 1.5mA. In addition, when option 19U is installed, additional parameters can be viewed on the charger’s LCD display. By scrolling through the display, the user can monitor the DC voltage balance with respect to ground as well as any potential leakage current to ground. When combined with the optional communication packages, the ground fault current and voltage balance measurements can be accessed remotely. When equipped with the adjustable ground detection option on the new A77D/DE, measurements and alarm status will be recorded in the data log file.

The new Battery Test feature is a new option for single voltage output ESCR units. Once the battery test is initiated, the output voltage of the unit is lowered to a preset value allowing the battery to pick up the load. If the battery is connected and is in good condition, it will hold the voltage and support the load. If the DC voltage drops to the preset value, the battery is determined faulty and displays battery fail and low voltage alarms. Battery Test modes have the following setting options: Manual Mode (default setting), every day, weekly, 14 days or 30 days.

La Marche now offers a Low Voltage Load Disconnect (LVLD) option with the LTP system. The LVLD is critical to prevent damage to the batteries when AC power is lost for an extended period of time. The back-up batteries may be damaged by over discharge. Installation of an LVLD is recommended to protect batteries and equipment against damage and to help avoid any unnecessary down-time from over discharge situations. All of the components are fitted inside the LTP power cage. The LVLD for the LTP utilizes a DC contactor to disconnect the load during the low voltage alarm condition.

La Marche will deploy the first batch of 12 Pulse SCR Battery Chargers in the month of June 2015. The A77 Battery Charger Series is now offered in a 12 Pulse arrangement and 5% Input Current Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). These new features for the A77 Series are offered as additional options. The 12 Pulse rectifier arrangement enforces the performance of SCR battery chargers, allows for lower input distortion, higher power factor and lower output ripple. While the THD filters option, when added to A77 Battery Chargers, provides an input current THD of less than 5%. This feature also improves the power factor of the charger to up to 0.95.

La Marche has redesigned the SCC (Solar Charge Controller) series into two upgraded, more advanced, and feature rich models: the SCP (Solar Charge Controller PWM Technology) & SCM (Solar Charge Controller – MPPT Technology). The SCM Controller is La Marche’s first product entry into the solar market. It regulates the voltage and current from the solar panels to properly charge the battery. La Marche’s SCM Controller utilizes a MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) Algorithm in order to maximize the power that it can extract from the solar panels. The SCP Controller is a simplified version of the SCM controller; it regulates the charging power using a PWM Algorithm. La Marche’s new Solar Charge Controllers are available in 10A, 20A and 30A versions at 12V/24V autodetect output. Both Controller models feature high protection modes (for solar panels, batteries and load connections), Low Voltage Load Disconnect, Status LEDs, a USB connection for diagnostic parameters, and an extra set of output terminals for additional loads.

La Marche is proud to announce another brand new feature for the A77D/DE, TPSD and A12B models. The fully digital AC Voltage and Current sensing provides precise RMS readings of input parameters in single and three phase chargers, with 1% accuracy. The measurements are shown on the charger’s LCD Display. Also, the AC Input Voltage and Input Current Sensing Option is compatible with the Data Logging feature provided in the new A77D and A77DE models. In addition, when combined with the optional communication packages, the unit input parameters can be accessed remotely.

SNMP VERSION 3 COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL

La Marche now offers SNMP Version 3 communication protocol for the A77D/DE, A12B, TPSD, and LTP model lines. The updated SNMP protocol offers more security through implementation of password protection and data encryption. The new protocol supports MD5, SHA1 / None Hash Types and AES128 / None Privacy Types encryption methods. The new protocol also allows the creation of multiple user accounts.

La Marche introduces a new, compact LTI II inverter specifically designed for data centers and telecommunications applications. The La Marche LTI II inverter is the ideal choice when the AC power requirements are critical. This inverter is equipped with standard features such as sine wave output, voltage regulation, undervoltage/overvoltage and overload protection. The LTI II Inverter Series is designed to operate at 48VDC input and produce 1KVA @ 120 VAC nominal output. The low distortion 60Hz sine wave is produced using an advanced DSP controlled architecture which achieves 89% efficiency.

La Marche has recently developed a new version of the LMDC distribution panel with Digital Alarm Status option and an audible alarm with a disable switch. The new LMDC not only provides two rows of pluggable load distribution breakers, current shunts, LVLD (Low Voltage Load Disconnect), ground and charge bus bars in one compact unit but also includes some of the most popular alarms and LED indicators which allow customers to closely monitor their systems. The monitoring and control has been designed to work with A36D units.
The DSA option provides the following features:
  • Digital LCD display, selectable for DC voltage, DC current (amps), timer mode, equalize time remaining (hours), and next auto equalize

La Marche introduces a new DC Power System for 48V applications. The DCPS system offers a complete DC power solution in a compact package configuration. DCPS system can be installed in standard 19 or 23 inch rack or cabinet. La Marche DC Power system utilizes high efficiency rectifiers, a highly intelligent system controller, I/O interface board for alarms/sensors, and a load/battery distribution panel. This complete DC system offers battery management with low voltage disconnect, remote monitoring, remote configuration and configurable alarm contacts. The compact design of the system reduces space requirements and installation cost. The system is configured with 48V/50A high efficiency rectifiers to provide a rated output current up to 200A. The DC distribution section is comprised of 16 pluggable load breakers and 2 battery breakers.

La Marche A77 battery chargers are based on microprocessor controlled SCR technology which employs 6 or 12 pulse rectification design topology resulting into high efficiency (>85% for single phase and >90% for three phase units). The 12 pulse rectification design along with harmonic filter offers reduction in total harmonic distortion (<5% with THD filter) and improves power factor (up to 0.95). The A77 battery chargers are available in 24V, 48V, 130V and 260V output configurations with multiple current ratings ranging from 6 amps to 400 amps. Apart from standard features like LED alarm and status indicators, LCD display with press-key buttons, soft start (slow ramping up of output voltage on start-up), Float/Equalize switch, adjustable temp. compensation, AC and DC breakers, surge protection on Input and Output, A77 charger offers various advanced features like SCR failure detection, remote monitoring, data logging in micro SD card for events & alarms and output load sharing with the accuracy of 5%. A77 provides a no load to full load output voltage regulation of 0.25%. A77 battery chargers are designed to comply with Nema PE5 and UL1012 standard. The model is currently undergoing UL certification process with expected completion forth quarter of 2015. This model can be equipped and customized with multiple options like reverse polarity protection, ground detection feature, temperature/humidity probe, communication module (SNMP & web browser/ DNP3.0/MODBUS/IEC61850), blocking diode at the output, Equalize inhibit feature, AC input and DC output breakers with open/trip indication, space heater with thermostat with a light indicator, zero-center ammeter etc. per customer requirements.
